Last weekend, I purchased the Atom Aspire Revo R1600 from Best Buy for $199, since I was on a very tight budget and wanted something with HDMI, eSATA, and plenty of USBs. So I picked this Nettop. Also, I bought the HP 2009m 20inch glossy anti-glare monitor. I have been using for a week so far, the machine is awesome for the price and what kind of processor it has, it runs an Intel Atom N230 (64 bit) 1.6Ghz Atom, it originally came with 1gb of ram, but decided to upgrade to 3gb of ram, soon to be 4gb, also it has a spot for Internal laptop wireless, since this machine uses all laptop components, such as laptop memory, 2.5inch SATA II hard drive. So far I have ran Windows XP Home Edition SP3, which came with the machine, also I installed Ubuntu 10.04 RC2 beta when I first bought the machine and upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. When I bought it, it came with an somewhat off an Apple style keyboard that has no number pad on the side of it, and it has the chicklet style keys. Surprisingly when I bought, not realizing it was equipped with the new Nvidia ION integrated GPU. So I installed an older game, GTA San Andreas to test out the integrated GPU. So first thing was to max out the graphics, well the only issue was that San Andreas does not support any resolution higher then 1280×800, so I set it to that, and played the game. The machine handled the game on this nice 20inch display at a smooth 35fps. I also decided to swap out the old school VGA to an HDMI to DVI adapter to get the true digital signal I have always wanted.

Alright, well tomorrow, if you guys want to see a live Apple iPad unboxing, you can stop over at The Tech Buzz roughly around 11-12 Eastern Standard Time. There he will be doing a live unboxing as soon as Steve gets it, tomorrow will be an exciting day for all these tech enthusiasts and Apple “fanboys”. The Apple iPad

Well ever since the iPad has been announced, I have been listening to the opinions of every day computer users, technical people, and also elderly people.
For me personally, the iPad has absolutely no use besides to sit on my desk and look pretty, I already own a 2nd gen iPod Touch, and a desktop computer, which I can play games on.
Also, a 1024×768 screen resolution is very old school, I’d rather have 1280×720 for at least a 720p screen on a device of that price.
There is cool parts of the iPad, which are, the eBook reader in full color, which maybe I could actually read a book, with it. Also, the way it shows Mail, Notes and default applications, with the list of emails, or all the notes on the sidebar.
Even the larger virtual keyboard would be nicer to type on for using such clients as Colloquy Mobile and also have that larger screen resolution to be able to read it.
One thing, I did not like is that fact it cant do true multi-tasking, and yes push notifications can be considered multi-tasking, but not in my world.

To sum it up, here are my pro’s and con’s of the iPad:
Pros:
Large enough screen for people of all ages to read
Larger virtualized keyboard
the “iBook” store for full color screen book reading.
The pay as you go 3G and Wifi functionality
Built in microphone for doing things as Skype calling
Large storage capacity
Allowing iPhone apps to work

Cons:
The 4:3 screen resolution, no support of 16:9 for the new widescreen standard videos
No true multi-tasking
The pricing on the Wifi+3G models are too expensive for this current economy.

Overall, yes Apple did do a very nice job on a device of this size, there are things that can be improved, that may end up getting improved in the next generations to follow.
After weighting the pros, with the cons, I still won’t buy the first generation, maybe the 2nd generation or 3rd generation.

Working on a new theme

As you guys can tell, I have created obtained a new layout, no it will stay like this, it will change.
Just wanted to make a new test post, to see how this new theme will work out.

My predictions for WWDC 2010

My predictions for WWDC 2010 will be that, Apple is going to announce their Tablet computer which will be between 7″ and 10″ in the price range of $600-$800. Also, I believe that they will be updating the Macbook Pro lines yet again for 2010, I think they will be equipped with either a Core i3 mobile processor for the low and midline 13inch and 15inch Macbook Pro’s or even a Core i5 mobile processor for higher end 15inch and 17inch Macbook Pro lines. I also believe that Apple is going to release new lower end iMacs with the Core i5 processors to update the sockets in their machines, it may not happen in March, but I predict it will end up happening in September of 2010, along with the Mac Mini’s that were just released on the old socket size.
Also, Apple will be announcing the new iPhone OS 4.0 for the new iPhone’s if they do release a new iPhone along with the rumored Tablet.
